Nutcracker Audition Registration
Join us on August 12th to audition for this upcoming season’s Siouxland Community Nutcracker! All Dancers 2nd grade and up are eligible to audition!
Auditions will be held August 12th at South Sioux City Middle School, time TBA. Video auditions will also be accepted - please reach out to balletsioux@gmail.com for more information regarding video auditions.
$10 nonrefundable audition fee applies to all dancers - if dancer’s are in need of financial assistance, please reach out to us - we want to make this opportunity available to all!
Please keep the following dates in mind when auditioning as no absences will be allowed for any of the following - December 3, 6,7,8,9. Dress rehearsals will be held at the Orpheum on December 6 and 7 in the evening - School Matinee shows will be held on December 8 with evening shows on December 8 and 9.

A lifelong fan of both the classic film and the groundbreaking fantasy novel, Alarcón uses the magic of dance to create an unforgettable experience through her interpretation of the beloved Oz story and its iconic characters: Dorothy, the storm-tossed but unflappable heroine; her companions the Scarecrow, the Tin Man, and the Cowardly Lion; the Good Witch and the Wicked Witch; and, of course, the Wizard himself. This fast-paced, entertaining spectacle tells the story in styles ranging from the grandeur of classical ballet to the energy of large-scale musical theater.

Sugar Plum Fairy Camp
SOLD OUT!!!
Come dance with the Sugar Plum Fairy and her friends from the Nutcracker Ballet. Campers will have a morning filled with activities from creating their own Sugar Plum accessories to learning a Nutcracker Dance it will be a fun filled day!
Dancers ages 4-8 are welcome to join us on Saturday November 13th from 9:00am - 12:30pm.
No previous experience is required.
Cost is $35.00 - All proceeds from the camp go to support the Siouxland Community Nutcracker!
We ask that dancers wear clothes that are easy to move in, and bring a water bottle. Snacks will be provided in the morning for all campers.
Ballet Company Auditions
Are you interested in becoming a part of Ballet Sioux?
Ballet Sioux is Siouxlands Première Youth Ballet Company, we are a non profit organization that welcomes dancers from around the area to join us for weekly company classes to help develop and enhance their ballet technique. To become a member of Ballet Sioux dancers are required to attend our annual audition, where they will be evaluated for class level and placement. Company classes will be hosted every Sunday at 5678! Dance Studio.
There are performance opportunities that will be opened up to dancers within the company; i.e. guest performances, workshops, solo work, community events, and others as they become more available. Dancers are also highly encouraged to participate in our productions that the company will host, like The Nutcracker. The best thing about Ballet Sioux is that dancers can choose their involvement, it can serve as supplemental training to your dance technique or be another performance avenue.
More Audition Information
Auditions will be held on Sunday September 12th at 5678! Dance Studio from 1:00-4:00 pm
Senior Level ages 13 and up - 1:00-2:30 pm
Junior Level ages 9-12 - 2:45-4:00 pm
Attire:
Female Dancers - Leotard (any color), pink tights, ballet flats, pointe shoes if dancing en pointe. Hair in a bun or pulled up out of the face if too short.
Male Dancers - Black bottoms (shorts or dance tights), form fitted t shirt, ballet flats. Hair pulled back and out of the face.
What to expect:
Dancers should plan to arrive around 10 to 15 minutes early to their audition to get checked in. The audition class will consist of 4-5 barre combinations, adagio, petit allegro, grand allegro, and turns. Their will be an additional pointe combination in the Senior level class as well. Auditions will use the full amount of class time, and results/placements will be announced Sunday evening by 10pm.
Nutcracker Auditions
Siouxland Civic Dance Association invites all area dancers 2nd grade and up to come audition for the Siouxland Community Nutcracker. We are thrilled to be presenting the Nutcracker this season, and look to present a production highlighting all of our areas talent.
Auditions will be held on August 28th at the South Sioux City Middle School Auditorium. Each age group will be split in their audition times to allow every dancer a chance to shine. There is no previous experience required to be able to audition, dancers are encouraged to have taken ballet.
